The use of color in the guide is superb and helps the user to locate important information quickly.
Serious drug adverse reactions are printed in red. Black box warnings are in a blue text box with red and black lettering. High alerts are in bold red in the text box with the name of the drug. This guide is easy to use. It includes nursing considerations including patient education and expected positive therapeutic outcomes. In addition it also contains appendixes with valuable information. I highly recommend this drug guide, not only for nurses, but for the patient as well.
I take it with me to my medical appointments, and consult it before I ever fill a prescription. I love this book's layout! It is color coded, which makes it is so much easier to read than any other drug book! Compared to black ink "only" textbooks. This was not the drug textbook that my nursing program recommend to download, but I bought this one instead because I liked the colorful layout so much better!!!
However, our program requires us to print off and bring the drug monographs of our patients medications to clinicals each week. The book comes with an code to access mosby's online resources.
However, unlike other drug books that you can print off all of the medication monograpHS on their online resource, mosby only let's you print a handful of additional meds, that aren't in the book. Which defeats the reason for the book, at least for my program, because I have to lug the book around with me instead of a couple of papers in my pocket.
All in all, I love the book, but if you need the online resource, than this is NOT the book for you. Absolutely the best nursing drug book.
SO helpful in clinical during our program. Clearly presents all the important drug information indications, side effects, adverse effects, contraindications, etc but also breaks it down into the nursing process important assessment info, nursing planning, etc.
Excellent resource for clinical use, although the book is a little large, and classroom assignments. Even though the book was bigger, it was so comprehensive, I didn't mind carrying it around. I recommended the book to my classmates, and nearly half my entire clinical group had downloadd the book by the time clinical was over.
Highly highly highly recommend this book. Great resource. Organized clearly and easy to reference. It's a great pic for students vs. Only drawback is that it is alphabetized by the generic drug name, so if you don't know it, you have to look it up in the index or otherwise find out before you can go drug info.
Brightly Colored Text! Seriously the BEST drug guide book for nursing students! This will be my 3rd drug guide download i've made since starting nursing school fall 15'!
So this was the best choice! So happy with my download!!!! I originally downloadd the 10th ed. It seemed to have all the info I needed; therefore, I downloadd the 11th edition with the up-date for So far it seems to have the drugs I need to review for clinicals each day.
I also like the brighter colors in the monographs. I think over all, it is a great book to have during clinicals and great for nurses too. Love love love this book! I rely on this more than the internet! My go to for drug information and drug sheets for nursing clinicals.
